North Lamar ISD finished in the top 25 schools across the state by placing 16th in UIL’s 2019 4A Lone Star Cup standings. The annual award, sponsored by Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, is given to six high schools, one in each of the six UIL classifications (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A), based on their team performance in district and state championships.

The RoughRiders came up just short in their bid for a first-half title Monday, falling 5-3 in Tulsa. The Riders built a 3-0 lead by the middle of the second, including RBI singles from All-Stars Juremi Profar and Charles Leblanc in the first inning, before Tulsa scored five unanswered to secure the win. Starter Edgar Arredondo fired five strong innings, allowing three runs on six hit across five innings in a no-decision. Reliever Matt Bush worked another 1 1/3 scoreless innings and has yet to allow a run with the Riders this season in 4 1/3 frames.

Lance Lynn did what he has been doing throughout his first season with the Texas Rangers with another quality start. Lynn allowed one run over seven innings as Texas won 7-2 in their series opener with Cleveland. Texas and Cleveland play game two tonight on 1490am and 96.3fm KPLT. Pregame at 6:30. First pitch at 7:05.

Toronto native Drake, among the Raptors’ best-known fans, was celebrating alongside the players on one of the parade buses.

Meanwhile, The Golden State Warriors took out a full-page ad in Monday’s edition of the Toronto Star to congratulate the Toronto Raptors on their NBA title. The ad appeared in the sports section on the day when the Raptors held their victory parade through the streets of Toronto.
