Realignment And High School Hoops Plus Eagles – Patriots Ready For Sunday

 

District Realignments were released yesterday for Texas high school UIL competitions. For the football alignment:
Paris – The Paris Wildcats and North Lamar Panthers join Anna, Argyle, Celina, Melissa, and Sanger in Class 4A Division 1 District 7. Chisum, Prairiland, and Cooper are with Bells, Blue Ridge, Leonard, and Whitewright in 3A Division 2 District 9. Rivercrest, Honey Grove, and Wolfe City will face Como-Pickton and Quinlan Boles in 2A Division 1 District 6. While Clarksville and Detroit are grouped with Maud, Mt. Enterprise, Overton, and Simms Bowie in 2A Division 2 District 10.
Tonight in high school hoops the Paris Wildcats are on the road to face Pleasant Grove. North Lamar goes to Atlanta. Chisum travels to Winnsboro while Prairiland will be at home to host Como-Pickton.
Mount Pleasant – The Mt Pleasant Tigers join Hallsville, Jacksonville, Lindale, Pine Tree, Marshall, Nacogdoches, and Whitehouse in Class 5A Division 2 District 9. The Pittsburg Pirates and Gilmer Buckeyes match up with Spring Hill, Liberty Eylau and defending state champion Pleasant Grove in 4A Division 2 District 6. The Hughes Springs Mustangs and Mt Vernon Tigers face Atlanta, Hooks, Jefferson, New Boston and Redwater in 3A Division 1 District 7. The Daingerfield Tigers and Paul Pewitt Brahmas are with DeKalb, New Diana, Elysian Fields, Ore City, Queen City and Waskom in Class 3A Division 2 District 11, while the Rivercrest Rebels join Como-Pickton, Honey Grove, Quinlan Boles and Wolfe City.
Tonight in high school hoops it’s homecoming at Chapel Hill as the Red Devils and Lady Devils bring in Mt. Vernon, while the Mt Pleasant Tigers host the Texas High Tigers at Willie Williams Gym.
Sulphur Springs – The Sulphur Springs Wildcats are no longer attached to Mt Pleasant or Texas High. The Wildcats move west with Corsicana, Ennis, Forney, Greenville, Kauf man, North Forney, Royse City, and Terrell in Class 5A Division 2 District 8. The Commerce Tigers and Rains Wildcats are with Bonham, Howe, Lone Oak, Pottsboro, and Van Alstyne in 3A Division 1 District 5. The Mt Vernon Tigers link with Atlanta, Hooks, Hughes Springs, Jefferson, New Boston and Redwater in 3A Division 1 District 7. The Winnsboro Raiders are in with Gladewater, Sabine, Mineola, West Rusk, Tatum and White Oak in 3A Division 1 District 8. The Cooper Bulldogs join Bells, Blue Ridge, Leonard, Chisum, Prairiland and Whitewright in 3A Division 2 District 9. The Como-Pickton Eagles are bound with Honey Grove, Rivercrest, Quinlan Boles and Wolfe City in 2A Division 1 District 6 while the Campbell Indians and Cumby Trojans are mixed in with Era, Muenster and Tioga in Class 2A Division 2 District 9.
The Dallas Stars get back on track last night in a 4-1 win over Arizona. The Stars scored three of their four goals in the second period, including two points from Devin Shore. Dallas now has 62 points on the season and keep hold of the top wildcard spot in the West.
And Super Bowl Sunday is on the horizon as the New England Patriots look for their sixth Super Bowl victory of the Bill Belichick and Tom Brady era, while the Philadelphia Eagles are in search of their first in franchise history. Patriots Tight End, Rob Gronkowski, has cleared concussion protocol and will play. Kick-off on Super Bowl Sunday is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
