A surge in active COVID-19 cases is leading to a face mask requirement in Red River County. On Clarksville Mayor Ann Rushing’s Facebook page, the county now has 30 active COVID-19s. In her post, Rushing said residents must wear masks for all inside activities and with non-family members within six-feet outside. Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order back in July requiring Texans to wear face coverings in public in counties with 20 or more COVID-19 cases. Still, most area counties do not enforce the order. Red River County reports a total of 197 cases, the lowest among the counties in the East Texas region of the ArkLaTex.
