Renewed Push For Legalized Sports

Texans might be able to wager on the next Superbowl thanks to bills filed in the state legislature. But they face opposition from the powerful Baptist General Convention of Texas. The Convention’s Rob Kohler says other states have tried gambling to increase revenue, and it’s under-delivered. This year, in Texas, a new coalition of pro-sports teams and online gambling platforms have teamed up to lobby for sports betting. It includes the Dallas Mavericks, and owner Mark Cuban says that it’s crazy we send Texans to neighboring states to go to casinos.
