Area health care officials are seeing an increase in young patients suffering from a highly contagious respiratory virus, and in some cases, children have been hospitalized. Doctors say the RSV is seen almost exclusively in kids under the age of 2. The symptoms, which last 4 to 6 days, also can include low-grade fever and, in some cases, an ear infection. There really is no way to treat the virus; it just takes time and exposure to as few germs as possible, doctors say.
