The Rivercrest Rebels only lost one game during the regular season and they lasted longer than any other Red River Valley team in the playoffs. On Friday, in the third round, the Rebels lost 57-14 to number three ranked San Saba. Rivercrest finishes the season 11-2.
On the hardwood, the Paris Lady Cats finished in second place in the Rains Tournament.
The N0. 17 ranked Paris Wildcats defeated 3A N0. 19 ranked Commerce 59-41. Trevon Dennis had 13 to lead the Wildcats while Gavyn Holljie added 10 points. Paris is 4-0 on the season.
The No. 21 Texas A&M University-Commerce football team used stifling defense and capitalized on six turnovers in its 23-3 win over Colorado School of Mines on Saturday in the Super Region Four Semifinal at Marv Kay Stadium. The Lion defense had ten sacks and forced six turnovers, while the Lion offense gained 425 yards of offense. The win brings the Lions to 11-2 on the season, and they advance to the regional final for the second time in three seasons. Mines suffers its first loss of the year, falling to 12-1 on the year, being eliminated from postseason play.
The No. 20 Texas A&M University-Commerce women’s basketball team defeated Northeastern State 74-50 on Saturday afternoon. After a close first half, the Lions ran away with the game in the second half, earning their sixth double-figure win of the season. The win brings the Lions to 7-0 on the season.
The Dallas Mavericks ended the Lakers ten-game winning streak with a 114-100 win yesterday. Luka Doncic finished with 27 points and was one rebound away from a triple-double. And the Stars fell in OT to Minnesota 2-1.
