With nearly 600 layoffs coming to Red River Army Depot in May, union officials are taking action trying to save jobs. The union representing civilian depot employees and another union representing federal employees have written a joint letter to area representatives expressing concerns over the impact of the planned layoffs. Depot officials say the layoffs are due to a decrease in the current and projected workload of about 1.3-million direct labor hours.
