RRAD Planning For Layoffs

Red River Army Depot officials say lost jobs results of the decline in needs of U.S. military. More than 400 of the 600 May layoffs RRAD announced last month would affect members of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which represents about 1,000 of the depot’s employees. Union leaders say they are not giving up on saving those jobs, but they are preparing to help members deal with unemployment. Efforts to stop the layoffs include telephone and letter-writing campaigns to crucial members of Congress.
