Search Underway For New Paris Chief of Police

Paris City Manager Grayson Path

Press Release from Paris City Manager Grayson Path

The City of Paris is seeking to hire a new Chief of Police. In that connection, Grayson Path, City Manager, has narrowed the list of candidates down to a group of Finalists, which he plans to announce by this Friday.

Under the City Charter, the City Manager must appoint a Chief of Police and present this appointment to the City Council to consider approval. The Chief of Police is a high-profile position, and therefore the City Manager would like to seek input from the community to assist him in making his decision.

On Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 5:30 pm, the City will conduct a virtual interview for the community to observe. Due to COVID-19, the City has placed limitations on this event. There will be no attendance at this event other than the City Manager, the finalists, a select group of support staff, and the Community Members’ panel to perform the interviews. Recommendations for the City Council selected the board, and since the city staff is making final preparations with this panel, they will make their identities known closer to the event.

Following the interviews, the City Manager will seek input on these candidates from the community. The City will announce a link that will allow individuals to provide the City Manager with their thoughts after the event.

To give input, you will need to provide your name, address (residential or commercial), contact information, and your water bill account number to try and restrict input to just our community.

The City Manager asks that those wishing to submit their input to please do so no later than 11:59:59 pm, Sunday, January 24, 2021. Manger Path will review all community input in combination with all other relevant factors and decide on a candidate to present to the City Council at a future council meeting.

Please stay tuned to the City’s Facebook page and watch for future press releases for additional information, including how you can view the event virtually.
