Prayers for Andy’ is what T-shirts in support of Aaron Parker Elementary teacher, Andy Johnson, say.  Andy, 26, was admitted to the hospital with complications from pneumonia and the flu on February 27.  Once there she was put on a ventilator, began dialysis for her kidneys and placed in ICU.  She remains in stable but critical condition with medical bills that are quickly stacking up.

To help offset the Johnson’s medical expenses, North Lamar ISD and the community have gotten creative.  A total of $3,220 was raised at North Lamar by staff paying five dollars to wear jeans and by Parker students raising $750 to wear hats.  A benefit account has been set up at Guaranty Bank under ‘Prayers for Andy’, and a T-shirt has been designed for those wanting to show support with proceeds going to the Johnson family. Cypress Home Care in Paris will hold a Blood Drive on Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and more fundraisers are in the planning stages.  Andy and her husband, Duren, have two boys ages two and a half and seven months.
