While Lamar County was spared any major damage, several warnings were issued during Saturday night’s severe weather.  Areas to the south were not so lucky.  Search teams were going door to door Sunday after 4 confirmed tornadoes Saturday night killed at least 4 people,  damaged at least 5,000 homes and businesses, uprooted trees and flipped several pickup trucks at a Dodge dealership in Canton. At least 60 people were injured.  The storms cut a path of destruction 35 miles long and 15 miles wide in Van Zandt  and Henderson counties . The storm continued north into Rains County causing significant damage. A possible tornado struck Cumby in Hopkins County, but has not yet been confirmed. The Red Cross set up shelters, canteens and assistance centers in Canton, Emory and Eustace.
