Sims Conviction Upheld In Appeals Court

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld the murder conviction of a Lamar County man who claimed police violated his rights by using cellphone location data to find him without a warrant. Christian Sims pleaded guilty in the 2014 fatal shooting of his grandmother at her home in Powderly and was sentenced to 35 years in prison. Investigators found him after data provided by his phone provider placed him at an Oklahoma motel.
