The Lamar County teenager accused of murdering his grandmother at her home in Powderly 18 months ago made an appearance before County Court At Law Judge Bill Harris this week and declined a plea bargain offered by District Attorney Gary Young. Christian Sims was advised by his defense attorney to accept the proposed agreement, and was warned that even if he decides to plead guilty at a later date, his sentence could be more severe. Sim’s girlfriend, Ashley Morrison is also charged in the murder of Lois Sims. Both Sims and Morrison were students at North Lamar High School.
