Softball Playoff Results Plus Cowboys Pick Zeke

 

Paris – The softball playoffs began last night. The North Lamar Pantherette’s win the bi-district series opener against Tyler Chapel Hill 2-0. Game two is scheduled for 6pm at Chapel Hill high school in Tyler. Game three is tomorrow in Mineola at 3pm. Both will be broadcast live on MIX 107.7. Honey Grove wins a bizarre first game over Blue Ridge 12-11. Game two is tomorrow at 3. The Rivercrest Lady Rebels beat James Bowie 8-6. Game two is Saturday at 5:30. The Detroit Lady Eagles continue their series against Avery tomorrow at 5:30 at Chisum. Meanwhile, Prairiland saw their season come to an end at the hands of New Boston 9-2.

Mount Pleasant – Area softball teams continue the opening round of the post season. The district champion Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs take game one over the New Boston Lady Lions last night 7-4. Game two tonight can be heard live on STAR 96.9. First pitch is at 8pm. Game three on STAR is tomorrow at 6. The Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers are one win away from advancing to the area round after last night’s 4-2 win over Whitehouse at Letourneau University. Game two tonight is tonight at 5, game three will follow if necessary at LeTourneau. The Rivercrest Lady Rebels beat James Bowie 8-6 and pick the series back up on Saturday at 5:30, while the Paul Pewitt Lady Brahmas see their season come to an end at the hands of Redwater 11-1.

Sulphur Springs – Area softball teams continue the opening round of the post season this weekend. Last night the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats take down Corsicana in game one of their three game series 9-4. Game two is scheduled for tonight in Corsicana at 6:30. Game three, if necessary, will be at 1pm at North Forney high school. Commerce shuts out Grand Saline 8-0 for a game one victory. Alba-Golden saw their softball season come to an end at the hands of Van Alstyne 6-1. Lone Oak will continue their series tonight against Edgewood at home in game two tonight. First pitch is at 6pm. And the Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers will take on Hooks at Harleton this evening at 7. Game three, if necessary in Harleton is Saturday at 7pm.

The Dallas Stars are scheduled to begin the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs tomorrow evening when they host the St. Louis Blues. Puck drop for game one is 7pm.

The Texas Rangers are back on the diamond at Globe Life Park in Arlington tonight when they begin a three game series against the LA Angels. The Rangers at 12-10 lead the AL West by half a game over Seattle and one game over the Angels. First pitch this evening [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is scheduled for 7:05.

And in a wild first round of the 2016 NFL Draft The Dallas Cowboys Selected Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick of the NFL Draft. Quarterback Jared Goff out of Cal was the top overall selection going to the Los Angeles Rams, while Carson Wentz, Quarterback out of North Dakota State is headed to the Philadelphia Eagles.
