Today marks the first day Texas restaurants can resume dine-in service, with heavy restrictions. A 25-percent capacity caps dining rooms, and at that level, Emily Knight, who heads the Texas Restaurant Association, says only about half of all restaurants plan to reopen today. It’s the smaller ones that are staying closed. She says there is still a problem for some smaller restaurants to source all the things needed to reopen. It’s not only food but no-touch thermometers, gloves, and masks. As time goes on, she expects more restaurants to open, with about ten percent staying closed forever.
