The Texas Rangers split a double-header with the Angels yesterday, losing game one, 5-1. They came back in an 11 inning Game 2, 3-2, thanks to Delino DeShields racing home from second base with the winning run. The two teams play Game 4 of the series tonight at 6:05 pm.
The Dallas Cowboys have signed linebacker Jaylon Smith to a deal. Smith was set to become a restricted free agent after this season, but he decided to take the security of a longer-term deal now rather than going through a possible long negotiation. The deal is for five years and $65 million, with $35.5 million guaranteed.
Antonio Brown is wearing a certified helmet and participated in practice with the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday. Coach Jon Gruden said, “He’s all-in and ready to go,” “That’s my understanding. Really happy to have him out here. He’s a great player.”
A reminder of scrimmages coming up this week in High School football: Mt Pleasant will host Atlanta, Pittsburg will travel to North Lamar, Mt Vernon will head to Edgewood, Sulphur Springs will play at Liberty Eyelau, Paul Pewitt will be at White Oak, Hughes Springs will be at home against Harmony, Paris will host Denison, Ore City at Rivercrest and Gilmer will be at Henderson. All those games will be on Thursday. Daingerfield will host Gladewater on Friday.
Ronda Rousey, the former UFC and WWE champion nearly lost her middle finger recently while filming the Fox show “9-1-1,” she posted Tuesday on Instagram. The post was accompanied by a gruesome photo showing a part of the bloody finger hanging off. Rousey wrote that a boat door fell on her hand during a take. She said she went through the take without even looking at her finger.
