It’s opening week of high school football season in Texas. This Friday night, Paris High will travel to Texarkana to play Pleasant Grove. That game can be heard on 101.9 KBUS beginning at 7:00 pm. On Mix 107.7, the North Lamar Panthers will travel to Pottsboro to take on the cardinals. The broadcast also starts at 7:00 pm. Thursday the Pittsburg Pirates travel to Jefferson at 7:00 pm on KLAKE 97.7. Also on Thursday, Hughes Springs heads to Lufkin to take on Hamshire-Fanett at 7:00 pm on STAR 96.9. Then on Friday night, Mt Pleasant travels to Wylie East at 7:30 pm on KLAKE 97.7, and Mt Vernon is on the road to Bonham on STAR 96.9 at 7:30 pm. Sulphur Springs will host Frisco Wakeland on STAR 95.9. Also on Friday, Paul Pewitt will host New Boston, Daingerfield will be at home against Gunter, Gilmer will host Atlanta, and On Saturday night Rivercrest will be at home against Chism.
In other Red River action, Chisum hosts Rivercrest. Prairiland hosts Dekalb. Cooper hosts Farmersville. Honey Grove is at Bells. Clarksville is at Whitewright and Detroit travels to Trenton.
In Volleyball over the weekend the Paris Lady Cats continued their hot start to the season as they finished second in the Forney tournament. The only loss the Lady Cats suffered was in the championship game against host team Forney.
The Rangers dropped three of four in Chicago including a 2–0 defeat yesterday. The only hit Texas managed came in the sixth when Shin-Soo Choo got a single to lead off the inning. Texas is off today before starting a series with the Angels in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
In a development that shocked the NFL Saturday night, Indianapolis Colt’s quarterback Andrew Luck announced his retirement. Luck finishes his career with 2,000 completions, 3,290 attempts, 23,671 yards, 171 touchdowns, and 83 interceptions. Luck led the Colts to the playoffs in each of his first three seasons in the NFL, including back-to-back AFC South titles and an appearance in the AFC Championship Game in 2014. Now, the Colts will turn to Jacoby Brissett, the 26-year-old quarterback acquired from the New England Patriots in 2017.
The Cowboys won their first preseason shutout since 2012 by beating the Houston Texans, 34-0 Saturday night. The offense rolled, while the Cowboys’ pass rush was unstoppable, coming up with eight sacks and the defense added two takeaways. The Texans have lost running back Lamar Miller to a torn ACL. Dallas plays their final pre-season game Thursday night as they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Louisiana claimed its first Little League World Series title as Marshall Louque hit a pair of doubles and drove in three runs, while pitcher Egan Prather threw a two-hit shutout Sunday to lead a team from River Ridge past Curacao 8-0.
Reynaldo Lopez pitched five no-hit scoreless innings before leaving with dehydration and flu-like symptoms, and the Chicago White Sox went on to beat the Texas Rangers 2-0 on Sunday. The Rangers are off today and will start a series with the Angels in LA on Tuesday. First pitch at 9:07 pm.
