HS Football Preview Plus Solak Powers Rangers In Today’s Sports Update

In high school football last night, the Hughes Springs Mustangs traveled to Waskom and dominated the Wildcats with a 35-21 win. They now go to 2-0.

Week 3 of the high school football season gets underway tonight with several ranked teams playing. On 101.9 KBUS, the Paris Wildcats will travel to Gilmer. Paris is ranked No. 5 in 4A Division I while Gilmer is ranked No. 5 in 4A Division II. On Mix 107.7, the North Lamar Panthers will try to get their first win as they face the 1–1 Crandall Pirates.

Mt Pleasant is off, Tatum is at Pittsburg (HC) on KLAKE 97.7 at 7:30 pm, Redwater is at Paul Pewitt (HC) at 7:30 pm on STAR Country 96.9 and Sulphur Springs is at Terrell on STAR Country 95.9. Also on Friday, Canton is at Mt Vernon (HC), New Boston is at Daingerfield.

In other games, Prairiland will travel to Clarksville. Both teams are 1–1. Chisum has their first road game of the season as they travel to Winnsboro who is 2–0 on the season. Chisum is still looking for their first win. Cooper will host Rains. Rains is 0 and 2 while the Bulldogs are 1 and 1. Rivercrest hosts James Bowie tonight. The Rebels are 2 and 0 while James Bowie is looking for their first win. Honey Grove will play at Alba-Golden. Honey Grove is 2 and 0. And 1 and 1 Detroit will host Boles who comes in at 0 and 2. In volleyball action tonight, the Paris Lady Cats host Mt Pleasant. North Lamar travels to Princeton. Prairiland is at Caddo Mills. RiverCrest hosts Clarksville while Tom Bean is at Detroit.

In another low scoring Thursday night NFL game, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Carolina Panthers 20-14. The Dallas Cowboys head to DC Sunday to take on the Washington Redskins at noon.

Nick Solak homered off the pitcher he was traded for two months ago, and Texas beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-4 on Thursday night, giving the Rangers consecutive series victories for the first time since June. Texas will host Oakland tonight on 1490 AM and 96.3 FM KPLT. Pregame is at 6:30 with the first pitch at 7:05.

Georgia’s school colors might be red and black, but many fans cheering for the No. 3 Bulldogs in Saturday’s game against Arkansas State at Sanford Stadium, are planning to wear pink. A “pink out” is scheduled for Saturday’s game (12:00 pm ET, ESPN2) to bring awareness to breast cancer research and to honor Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson’s late wife, Wendy, who died Aug 19 after a two-year battle with the disease.
