The STARR test starts today for Texas high schoolers, and it comes at a pivotal time for public schools. Teacher’s groups say they are just now emerging from Covid and getting back to a sense of normalcy. The high-stakes testing, they say, puts a monkey wrench in the recovery. Clay Robison with the Texas State Teachers Association says the tests stress members about the complete return of the STARR exams. They were canceled in 2020 and made optional in 2021.
