Authorities say a West Mesquite High School football standout who went on to star as a freshman running back for the University of Utah died at a Denton hospital after accidentally shooting himself. University officials announced Ty Jordan’s death Saturday, and it came a day after he was named the PAC-12’s newcomer of the year.
