State Deficit Not As Bad As Expected

While Texas is currently running at a deficit due to the COVID economic downturn, some hope that the hit won’t be significant. Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar’s revenue shortfall estimate came in nearly a billion dollars, far less than the $4.6-billion projection in July. Hegar believes the governor’s call for a five-percent budget cut among state agencies could make up the deficit.
