After 16 weeks, we’ve finally reached the state championship weekend for Texas High School Football. Games begin this morning at 10am and the class 2A Division II game between Iraan and Bremond. Crawford and Refugio will follow for the Division I title. At approximately 5pm, Gunter will take on Boling in class 3A Division II and Mineola will wrap up the evening against Yoakum in 3A Division I at 8 this evening. Tomorrow will feature class the Class 4A title games, as well as the 5A Division II championship.

Last night the Dallas Mavericks fall to the Detroit Pistons 95-85. The Mavs fall to an NBA worst 6-19 on the season, tied with the 76ers and take on Utah tomorrow night at 9:30.

Prior to the Mavs game, forward Dirk Nowitzki, acknowledged his retirement could happen sooner than he planned. With the goal of having a 20 year career in mind, the 18 year future hall of famer says 2017 could be it for him, referencing injuries and an aching body as cause for, what Dirk would consider an early exit.

The Dallas Cowboys look to bounce back and clinch a bye in the opening round of the playoffs Sunday night against the Tampa Bay Bucs. The Cowboys still have the NFL’s best record at 11-2 with three games remaining. Ezekiel Elliott continues to lead the league in rushing with nearly 1,400 yards. Jameis Winston and Tampa Bay have been hot, winning five straight and seven of their last nine. Kickoff to Sunday Night Football [on 101.9 KBUS] is at 7:30.
