State’s Power Grid To Be Tested Over the Next Few

They expect Texas’ power grid to face another challenge this weekend, with triple-digit heat indexes anticipated for much of the state. University of Houston Energy Economics Professor Ed Hirs says the high temperatures are only part of the problem. If the power plants don’t remain online, a lack of wind could lead to rolling outages. ERCOT, which oversees the state’s electricity grid, has asked the power plants to delay scheduled maintenance until next Wednesday.
