Meet the DJ: Super Dave Millsap

Dave Millsap’s career in radio began when he was 14 years old, after “bugging” the program director at KPLT 1490AM/1077FM in Paris.
“My dad had taken me to a radio station to see a cousin of ours and when I walked out, I looked up at him and said that that’s what I want to do for the rest of my life,” said Millsap.

Millsap said he called Mike Rogers at KLPT every day until he finally gave him an opportunity and let him run the board.
From that moment on Millsap’s career in radio blossomed and he quickly became a fixture in Lamar County.
Throughout his career, Millsap has been nominated for “On Air Personality of the Year” six times and is a voice many in Lamar County have grown to love.

However, it was his work off the microphone that Millsap really loved and where he made the biggest impact.

“There have been so many memorable moments but being able to host benefits, school supply drives and non-profits event was what really touched my heart,” said Millsap. “Meeting all these amazing artists and watching them blossom in the industry has been a blessing,” Millsap said, “helping others is what it is all about and being able to use this platform to do that has been amazing.”

Millsap was also instrumental in having a street in Paris (Gene Watson Boulevard) named after Gene Watson and the two have since formed a close friendship.

We at East Texas Broadcasting are excited to welcome him to our radio team!
