Storms Hit Northeast Texas

Severe weather hit the area as the National Weather Service issued Tornado and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings throughout the afternoon and evening. The harsh weather carried powerful winds and dropped hail throughout the region. There were few reports of significant damage in most of Northeast Texas. In Pickton, however, wind destroyed five homes and barns, and about ten other structures, as well as First Methodist Church in Como, received heavy damage. Como-Pickton schools were closed Friday as a result.
