Sulphur Springs Fire Chief’s Position Eliminated

The Sulphur Springs City Council had announced a special meeting for Friday at noon. The agenda lists an executive session to discuss the elimination of the position of City Fire Chief. That portion of the meeting apparently is no longer needed because the decision has already been made. Fire Chief Eric Hill announced in an open letter that he was notified at 5:01 pm Wednesday that the city had terminated his position. No information has been released by the city. Meanwhile, a public hearing on the proposed tax increase remains on the agenda for the meeting.
