Sulphur Springs ISD Board Meeting

A regular meeting of the Sulphur Springs ISD school board was on Monday, April 9, 2018.

PUBLIC FORUM

No one requested to address the Board.

A plaque of appreciation was presented to former board member Don Sapaugh for his 11 years of service to SSISD.

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS

Carmen Hammack presented a report on district math programs, and Karen Phillips (via video) gave an overview of district science programs.

Kelly Shutt and SSMS students highlighted the Robotics program at Middle School.

Kristin Monk and Josh Williams gave updates on elementary and secondary campuses and programs.

The following Head Start items were presented to the Board for informational purposes only: Head Start Director’s Report for March & Policy Council Minutes for March.

Deborah Cody presented required Head Start training on the Roles & Responsibilities of the Governing Body to board members.

ACTION ITEMS

Along with routine matters, the board approved the following:

Quarterly Investment Report for the three months ended February 28, 2018.

Instructional Materials Allotment TEKS Certification Form.

Playground equipment for current ECLC (to be named) and Douglas ECLC campuses.

Submission of Head Start one-time grant proposal requesting funds for playground equipment at Douglas ECLC campus.

Resolution 3-18 nominated Michael Lamb for TASB Superintendent of the Year award.

Two-year option to extend custodial services contract with The Faulk Company.

A bid from 3T Building Materials for materials to be used in Middle School countertop replacement project.
