Sulphur Springs has recently had an influx of telephone scams. In the last few days, people have been getting phone calls from a local Law Enforcement entity, except it’s not the Police. Technology has advanced enough for these thieves to make any number they want to show on your caller ID. The thieves then impersonate Law Enforcement and tell you that you have a warrant, usually for missing a jury summons years ago, and if you don’t pay immediately, you’re going to jail. These scammers will often want information about your bank account or will want you to pay them by a pre-paid card.
