Sulphur Springs Police And Fire Departments To Host “Battle Of The Badges” Blood Drive Competition

 

 

 

First responders know how important it is to have a safe and sufficient community blood supply. Carter BloodCare experiences its most significant slump in collections during the summer months. That is why the Sulphur Springs Police and Fire Departments, as well as city employees, are all getting involved to promote blood donation with a friendly, but competitive, twist. They are hosting a blood drive and asking donors to place their ‘vote’ for the police or fire department with their donation. The blood drive is called Battle of the Badges. All donors will receive a free Battle of the Badges T-Shirt and a buy one, get one Texas Rangers ticket voucher. The winner of the first responder contest receives a commemorative plaque and bragging rights. Logistics for the drive are as follows:

Remember to eat a nutritious meal and drink plenty of water a couple of hours before giving blood. All donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, feel well on the day of donation, and present a government-issued photo ID each time they give blood.

Potential blood donors may volunteer to give, beginning at age 16 with parental consent; 17-year-olds may give independently and there is no upper age limit for donating blood. Call or text 800-366-2834 to make your appointment. For other information visit carterbloodcare.org.
