Three of the largest manufacturers, Hikma Pharmaceuticals, Teva Pharmaceutical Inds., and Sandoz, have concerns about the common antibiotic amoxicillin. They have all reported shortages of various doses of the drug most commonly used to treat bacterial infections in children. Amoxicillin comes as a capsule, a chewable tablet, and a liquid to be taken by mouth, depending on the patient’s age.
