Suspect Dies After Pursuit, Officer Involved Shooting

A suspect has died after an East Texas pursuit and officer-involved shooting. State Troopers began a chase of a stolen box truck in Forney and continued through Rains, Wood, and Smith counties. Troopers said the suspect demonstrated an egregious and reckless disregard for other motorists, leading Troopers to believe his actions of harming a bystander were imminent. The trooper discharged his firearm at the suspect’s vehicle on State Highway 31, ending the pursuit. They transported the suspect to a Tyler hospital, where he died. They have not released his name.
