TAMU-Commerce Professor Receives Research Grant

ProQuest Inc. has awarded Dr. Unal “Zak” Sakoglu a research grant to research and develop efficient Enterprise Information Management systems, which will be able to process large amounts of data.

“Developing efficient data management systems to efficiently organize, analyze and make sense of large amounts of data, for example, ‘big data,’ and to extract useful information is very important and that is what we will be doing in this project for ProQuest,” said Sakoglu.

In addition to research funding, the ProQuest grant will allow for the support of a full-time graduate assistant as a researcher.

“External research and development grants like this are very important for our department, where graduate research assistantships are scarce,” said Sakoglu. “Involving and supporting graduate students with external funding have a big positive impact on the students’ studies. Getting funding from industry, where money is tight, is especially important. I would like to thank ProQuest for this award. I have been and will be seeking more external grants and awards to do research and development and to involve and support more students.”

According to ProQuest, the company empowers researchers and librarians around the world by using its innovative information content and technologies to increase the productivity of students, scholars, professionals and the libraries that serve them.
