Texas A&M University-Commerce invites the public to a free viewing event for the total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8. The event is scheduled from noon to 4:00 pm at A&M-Commerce’s Memorial Stadium, 1606 State Highway 24 in Commerce. Attendees will enjoy educational presentations, activities, and the perfect place to witness the last solar eclipse viewable from the contiguous United States until 2044.
The University welcomes the general public to the eclipse viewing from noon to 2:00 pm. Further festivities, such as a silent headphone disco and food trucks, will be available to A&M-Commerce students from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
Free eclipse glasses will be available to attendees while supplies last!
The school will cancel the event in case of inclement weather. The University will decide whether to hold the event by Saturday, April 6.
Parking and Shuttles
Free public parking will be available in Lots 33 and 34 on the west side of Highway 24, and shuttles to and from the stadium will run from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm.
ADA-accessible parking will be available in front of the west entrance for authorized vehicles. Additional ADA-accessible parking will be available in Lots 1, 3, and 4. On the day of the event, all other traffic on the service road in front of the stadium will be prohibited.
Stadium Entrance
The general public’s entrance is on the stadium’s west home side.
A&M-Commerce students, faculty, and staff will enter on the east visitor side and receive a wristband. Attendees must present a valid Lion Card for entry on the east side.
A parent or guardian must always accompany all children aged 16 and under.
Concessions
Concession stands will be open in the stadium and will accept only credit cards.
Prohibited Items
The University prohibits the following items inside the stadium during the event:
- Purses, bags, or backpacks of any kind.
- Animals, except Service Animals, when accompanied by their handler.
- Outside food or drink.
ADA Accessibility
