The U.S. Department of Justice announced they sentenced a Texarkana physician to eight years in federal prison for operating a “pill mill.” Dr. Lonnie Parker, age 59, of Texarkana, Arkansas, was sentenced Monday to seven years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. It was on two counts of distribution of a Schedule II controlled substance without an effective prescription. He also got 12 months in prison, followed by one year of supervised release, on two counts of distribution of a schedule V controlled substance without an effective prescription.
