Texas hit record highs of COVID cases Wednesday with more than 5,550 new cases and nearly 4,400 hospitalizations. There were 29 fatalities. Governor Greg Abbott said new local restrictions might be needed to protect hospital space for new patients. He did not specify what new restrictions he had in mind.
