The Texas Department of State Health Services reported 8,076 new COVID-19 cases, marking the first time Texas crossed the 8,000 thresholds for new COVID in a single day. The new cases jumped by more than 1,000 from Tuesday’s record-setting number.
It set off new concerns about the speed at which the disease is spreading as we head into the July 4 holiday weekend. Some hospitals in Texas were among the last to lock down and first to reopen. They are overwhelmed by the rise in cases. In Texas, there are almost 7,000 people hospitalized, a new record for Texas.
