The Texas House broke its previous record of 4,836 bills filed in the 2009 regular session by filing nearly 5,295 so far this year. However, they skipped some bill numbers, and the same author filed a few duplicates. State Senators almost beat their record of 2,566 bills filed in the 2009 session but fell just short of filing 2,565.
