Texas Legislature Begins Third Special Session

Redistricting won’t be the only thing that lawmakers will sort out as their third special session begins today. Governor Abbott has put four other items on the agenda, including legislation to decide whether state or local governments can mandate COVID-19 vaccines. Abbott says a single statewide standard is necessary. Abbott asked lawmakers to ban mask mandates in schools in the last special session, but that bill never gained traction.
