Texas Ties Child Support To Car Registration

Beginning in September, people who owe 6 months back child support will not be able to renew their Texas vehicle registration. Local tax officials will be mailing in September for the December renewals and it’ll be on the notice that you have delinquent child support. Those receiving the delinquency notices need to call the Attorney General’s office and make some type of arrangement because there is nothing local officials can do. Nearly one in four Texas children receive assistance from the child support system.
