The Cinderella Project Accepting Prom Dress Donations

Free dresses for girls in the RRV area

High school girls who will be attending their school’s prom have the opportunity to shop locally from an array of dresses and party wear.  Hosted by Immanuel Baptist Church, The Cinderella Project has hundreds of new and gently worn dresses to choose from in all sizes. The best thing is there’s no money exchanged!

The Cinderella Project was the brainstorm of North Lamar parent Johnna McNeal and NLHS instructor Sandra Patterson when they realized that dresses could be recycled and made available for every girl who wanted to attend that one special dance of the year.

Girls in the Red River Valley area can say “Yes to the Dress” while shopping through The Cinderella Project’s closet located at Immanuel Baptist Church at 1771 Bonham Street.  Doors will be open on Saturdays, April 6, 13, 20 and May 4 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

The Cinderella Project will accept donations of dresses and party wear during shop hours or donors can take them to Patterson at North Lamar High School.

“Every girl deserves a happily ever after,” said Patterson.  “The Cinderella Project is a great avenue for others to donate their formal wear.  In fact, we ask the girls to become donors by donating their dresses back after prom.”
