The Dierks Flip Phone And Kenny’s Tiki Bar In Today’s Nashville Insider

Dierks Bentley tells The Tennessean that he still uses a ‘flip phone.’ “The flip phone, for me, is recognizing a window of time I have in my life right now with none of my kids being on a phone. The smartphone is pumping my brain full of digital data that I don’t need. Creativity and time and presence all get consumed by it.”

Thomas Rhett tells Sounds Like Nashville that he likes touring with Kenny Chesney because of Kenny tours with a tiki bar. “He sets up this like gigantic space next to his bus where he has a tiki bar and food trucks and music playing. And literally like before the show and after the show, I could’ve walked up to Kenny and said, ‘Hey dude I have 30 family members here. Is that cool?’ He’d be like, ‘Yeah! Come on.’ He kind of treats everybody like you’re their family and I think that’s what creates such a unique and fun atmosphere with Kenny backstage.”

Billboard magazine claims Luke Bryan was recently performing in Nashville when he spotted Randy Travis in the front row. He covered “On the Other Hand” before saying, “I’ve been wanting to sing to you for a long time, buddy, That was unrehearsed — I didn’t know you were going to be here, but I hope you enjoy it. I love you.”

Morgan Wallen tells Digital Journal that he wanted to be a baseball player growing up. “When I was growing up, I focused on baseball and I put a lot of my time in that, but after I took music more seriously that’s where all of my love went. I try to make a better life for me and for my family. One day, hopefully, I want my parents to not have to worry about anything anymore.”

Sounds Like Nashville claims Luke Combs has been placed on vocal rest because of a sore throat. He posted: “This morning, I saw my doctors and we’ve got a plan of vocal rest and treatments for the next 10 days so I can be back with y’all as quickly as possible. It kills me to have to do this. Y’all are the reason I get on stage every night.”

Maren Morris tells the NY Times that she loves 90’s music. “I’m a ’90s kid, so I loved ’NSync and the Spice Girls.”

Kelly Clarkson tells NBC that she has not gotten Botox. “I wish I could do that. I’m afraid of it. I mean, I have friends that get it done. I mean, I look at my forehead and I see the lines. I’m just going to own it. I don’t work out. I mean, you should because your heart and stuff, but I do wine instead.”
