The Hollywood Report For Tuesday May 28

Adam Levine is leaving The Voice after 16 seasons. Gwen Stefani will replace him and join Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend as judges for next season. Levine won the show three times.

Adam posted, “About eight years ago, Mark Burnett convinced us to sign up for this show where you sit in a big red chair with your back turned away from the singers on the stage. First, thank you must go to Mark. We had no idea what we were doing or where it was going,” he began the message. “After the first day of shooting, I sat there, stunned. I said to myself “there’s some magic here. Something is definitely happening.” It went on to be a life-shaping experience that will be close to my heart forever.”

Blake Shelton tweeted, Having a hard time wrapping my head around @adamlevine not being at @NBCTheVoice anymore. After 16 seasons that changed both of our lives. I only found out about this yesterday and it hasn’t set in on me yet. Gonna miss working with that idiot.

A source tells Radar Online, “He was acting up like a petulant kid in front of the crew and other judges. He’s super difficult on the show set and even worst when he’s in a new environment with a new crowd to show-off to!”

TV Line claims Adam was upset with NBC because they made him tape the show’s semifinal performances even though he had no contestants competing in the semis. The site claims Adam was also upset with producers because of a rule change that no longer guaranteed each coach the same number of team members during the live playoffs. This left him with no singers by the time the semifinals arrived.

A source tells People magazine, “He’s been wanting to move on for a while. They wanted him to stay but he just really wanted to move on. It’s something he’s been talking to [host] Carson [Daly] and the other coaches about for some time. He really didn’t like some of the changes to the format of the show last season, and it’s just time for him to leave. It wouldn’t be surprising if he came back to visit the show though. There’s new music coming soon for him, he’ll be touring and he plans to continue acting. He’s staying busy.”

A source tells Hollywoodlife.com, “He is likely done for good but always will have the invite to come back down the line if he changes his mind. Adam is a tough pill to swallow and he definitely goes to the beat of his own drum but he is a part of the fabric that made The Voice tick and Mark Burnett respects what he has done for the show and would welcome him back even though he doesn’t expect him back.”

Hollywoodlife.com claims Blake Shelton is looking forward to Gwen Stefani replacing Adam Levine on The Voice. A source tells the website, ‘’Blake is friends with Adam and that won’t change. He will miss the banter with Adam, but Blake is going to love working with Gwen again. Blake’s looking forward to being tested by Gwen because that is going to add a real fun element to the show. It was a complete no brainer to bring her back because the show always wants to play off Blake in any way that they can, and Gwen was the clear and best choice.’’

The NY Post says a new documentary by OJ Simpson’s former manager, Norman Pardo, claims OJ and Kris Jenner one slept together in the 1990s while on vacation. Norman says OJ’s wife, Nicole Brown, and Kris’ husband, Robert, went to bed and left OJ and Kris in a hot tub together. Norman claims OJ and Kris had relations in the tub.

Dale Earnhardt Jr tells the Daily Mail that he wants Matt Damon to star in a movie about his life. ”I’d like Matt Damon to play me in a movie. I think the film should be named ‘Racing To The Finish’, the name of my autobiography.”

TMZ says the University of Illinois has no plans at the moment to award an honorary doctorate to Jeopardy star James Holzhauer. During a recent episode, he said he “attended the class as little as necessary” and joked that he majored in online poker. The university says they are proud of James and how he is showing there are many different ways to use a math degree. In order to receive an honorary doctorate, Illinois faculty members must nominate a worthy person and then vote on them. No one has nominated James.

The NY Post claims Jimmy Fallon’s late-night talk-show is in disarray because executives are fighting and ratings are falling. Some are blaming the downfall on the soft interview he did with Donald Trump in 2016. New producer, and Today Show veteran, Jim Bell was brought in to pump up ratings. He allegedly is upset with the show’s executive producer, SNL creator Lorne Michaels. Bell thinks Michaels is stuck in the past and that Fallon needs to reinvent himself to win.

Deadline Hollywood claims Kelsey Grammer was recently questioned about the Fraser reboot script he was seen carrying. The website quotes him as saying, “That little folder is filled with six different ideas that are all in contention for what may be the new Frasier. A continuation of Frasier. They’re similar, it’s a new life, in a new city.”

BuzzFeed News claims the producers of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie have pushed back its release date to February 14, 2020, because they need more time for reshoots. Fans complained after the movie’s trailer came out and Sonic was shown with human teeth instead of Hedgehog teeth
