The Phantom Cowboys Tripping Calls And Stars Win 7th Straight In Today’s Sports Update

The Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team earned its third consecutive berth into the NCAA Division II Tournament on Monday. The Lions are the fifth seed in the South Central Region and will draw forth seed Arkansas-Fort Smith in the first round, a match-up of co-Divisional Champions in the Lone Star Conference. The teams split their season series, with the road team taking each contest. The South Central Regional Tournament will take place in Denver, CO on the campus of Regis University, the No. 1 seed in the region. The tournament will begin on Dec. 5 and will conclude Dec. 7.

In high school hoops today the Paris Wildcats will play New Boston on the road at 3:30. The Detroit boys will host Boles at 6:30 tonight.

The North Lamar Pantherettes will host Cooper today at 11:00 am.

Dallas Mavericks 20-year-old phenom Luka Doncic was named their NBA’s Western Conference player of the week. Doncic led the Mavericks to a perfect 4-0 week with averages of 37 points, 8.5 rebounds and 11.8 assists per game with victories over San Antonio (Nov. 18), Golden State (Nov. 20), Cleveland (Nov. 22) and Houston (Nov. 24). Dallas will host the LA Clippers tonight.

The NFL told the Dallas Cowboys yesterday that tripping calls against Travis Frederick and Tyron Smith should not have been called during Sunday’s loss to the New England Patriots.

And the Dallas Stars tied a franchise-best 7th win in a row last night as they beat Vegas 4-2. Dallas has earned points in their last 12 games and is currently third in the conference, only three points behind Edmonton for first.

In Monday Night Football, Lamar Jackson threw five TDs, rushed for 95 yards in 45-6 win vs. Rams. On Thursday it’s an NFL triple-header as the Bears take on Detroit at 11:30 pm on FOX, Buffalo is at Dallas at 3:30 pm on CBS and the Falcons host the Saints at 7:20 pm on NBC.

The winless Bengals made their second quarterback change of the season on Monday. Cincinnati will go back to veteran Andy Dalton starting with the Week 13 game against the New York Jets, Bengals’ coach Zac Taylor said Monday. Dalton will replace rookie quarterback Ryan Finley, who started the previous three games after Dalton was benched after Week 8.

Although Sean Payton helped to inspire and create the NFL’s controversial new pass interference replay rule, he is among the growing legions who are disappointed with the results. So the New Orleans Saints coach has a suggestion to improve it: Instead of replays being decided solely by the league’s senior vice president of officiating, Al Riveron, they should be decided by a group of three people.

Duke is atop the Ap Men’s Basketball Poll this week. Louisville is No. 2, Michigan State is No. 3, Kansas 4th, Maryland is 5th, North Carolina is No. 6, Virginia is No. 7, Gonzaga is 8th, Kentucky is 9th and Ohio State is No. 10. Texas tech is 12th and Baylor is No. 19.
