Things To Do Around Paris This Weekend

 

Dylan’s Drivers provides a safe and reliable service within Lamar County, Texas, by providing free, non-judgemental, confidential rides to individuals who are rendered incapable of or lack access to safe transportation. Their hours of operations are Thursday be from 10:00 pm to 12:00 am, Friday and Saturday nights from 10:00 pm until 3:00 am. Call 903.905.4959

Adopt a pet today- give a dog or cat a forever home! Head over to the Paris Animal Shelter or look for the Lamar County Humane Association in front of Petco on Saturdays. And if you have a pet, have them spayed or neutered.

The 37th Annual Fort Towson Homecoming will continue today and Saturday with lots of food, games, arts and crafts and old west reenactments. Many more activities are on tap for the entire family.

Two local nonprofit United Way partner agencies are holding Donation Drives this month. The Lamar County Human Resources Council (LCHRC), “Meals on Wheels,” is collecting fans and the Downtown Food Pantry is collecting “kid-friendly” food items.

Donations of fans may be brought to LCHRC at 1273 19th Street NW and donations of food items may be taken to the Downtown Food Pantry at 124 W. Cherry Street. Or if it is more convenient, all items may be dropped off at the United Way of Lamar County office at 2340 Lamar Avenue (at the corner of 24th street).

Varsity Cheerleaders at Chisum High will be having a garage sale at Sandwich Etc. parking lot on Saturday (Jun 9) from 7:00 until 1:00 to help with camp fees this summer.

Bethel Baptist Youth will be washing cars as a Youth Camp Fundraiser at ABC Auto Parts, 2445 Lamar Avenue, in Paris, between the hours of 10:00 am to 3:30 pm on Saturday, June 9.

Reno Parks and Trail Committee presents Movies in the Park at Kiwanis Park in Reno. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, come out and enjoy some great movies this summer. All showings start at 8:45 and concessions will be available.

June features June 8, Moana. June 15, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and June 22, Jaws.

For the tenth year, Paris Main Street is hosting Movies in the Park.  This is a free public event and occurs every Thursday night in June. The community is encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a movie with friends in historic Bywaters Park, 400 S. Main Street.   

This year’s season begins on June 7 with the original version of Jumanji. Other movies are as follows: June 14, Gnomeo and Juliet. June 21, The Wild Life, and on June 28, The Looney, Looney, Looney Bugs Bunny Movie. A concession is available and will sell snacks including popcorn, hot dogs, candy, snow cones, and drinks. Camp Brave Heart from Cypress Basin Hospice is coming up June 7 and 8 from 8:30 am till 3:30 pm at First United Methodist Church in Paris. A fun and healthy environment to help kids understand grief. It’s free for ages 6-12. Find out more or register by calling 903-577-1510.

RELAY FOR LIFE OF PARIS, TEXAS NORTH LAMAR HIGH – RL MADDOX STADIUM – Friday-Saturday June 8 at 7:00 pm – June 9. Relay is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path. Each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. Cancer patients don’t stop because they’re tired, and for one night, neither do we. Each team sets up a themed campsite at the event and continues their fundraising efforts by collecting donations for food, goods, games, and activities. Northeast Texas Classic Car Show is June 8, at 5:00 – the 11th Annual Classic Car Show benefiting the Red River Valley Veterans Memorial. A Friday evening cruise night with 50 & 60’s music.
