Adopt a pet today – give a dog or cat a forever home! Head over to the Paris Animal Shelter or look for the Lamar County Humane Association in front of Petco on Saturdays. And if you have a pet, have them spayed or neutered.

Every Saturday until October the Paris Farmers and Artisan Market are open from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. Enjoy some great food, check out some handmade items and get your fill of homegrown goodness!

The Lamar County Human Resources Council (LCHRC) “Meals on Wheels” is collecting fans for Meals on Wheels recipients. Donations of fans may be brought to LCHRC at 1273 19th Street NW or dropped off at the United Way of Lamar County office at 2340 Lamar Avenue at the corner of 24th street.

Eagles Riders #3864 is having a drawing for a 2004 Heritage Softail Harley Davidson on August 15, 7:00 pm at the Eagles Lodge. But they are selling tickets now. Tickets are only $20. Call 903-732-8344 or 580-743-6493. Proceeds benefit Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop and the Lamar County Humane Association.

The Paris Optimist Club will hold registration for Fall Baseball on Saturday, July 28, and Saturday, August 4, at the Woodall Meeting room from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. Leagues are available for players ages 5-14. Players are assigned to leagues based on what their age will be on April 30, 2019. Games will be played on Saturday afternoons beginning September 8, and run through mid-October. Boys and girls from surrounding communities are invited.

The Second Annual Dylan’s Drivers Mud Volleyball Tournament is Saturday (Jul 28) starting at 9:00 am at The Red River Valley Rodeo Arena. Dylan’s Drivers will be hosting the “Down and Dirty” MUDD Volleyball Tournament. Payment will need to be enclosed with your registration form and received by July 22, or visit www.dylansdrivers.org. Last minute registration details will begin at 8:00 am on the day of the event and the games will start at 9:00 am. Double elimination play will continue until there is a winner. Cash prizes will be awarded. Entry fee for a four-person team will be $150.00 during pre-registration. After July 4, the cost increases to $175.00 per team. Waivers must be signed upon arrival. Children under the age 16 must have parent/guardian playing on the same team.

There will be a fundraiser for Chris Bubba Whitley on Saturday at 1:00 pm at the Eagles Lodge. Bubba was in a serious accident in June and has huge hospital bills. The $10 per plate will get you a brisket sandwich, baked beans, and coleslaw. Plus a live auction at 3:00 pm. Donations and prayers accepted.
