Thomas Rhett’s Christmas Project In Today’s Nashville Roundup

Thomas Rhett tells People magazine that he has recorded two-holiday songs and is working on a Christmas album. “My wife’s been on me to record a Christmas album or EP for a long time. And so we went into the studio and I recorded a classic and then I wrote an original. It’s kind of impossible to write a classic. You just hope that it’s cool enough to survive one year and maybe it’ll get played next year. I think my dream in life would be to write a classic Christmas song that gets played until my kids are older.”

Matt Stell tells One Country that “Prayed For You” turned out the way it did because one of his co-writers was late to a session. “I wrote ‘Prayed For You’ with two of my best friends … [we] were waiting on the third co-writer, Allison to get to the write. She called and said, ‘Hey, I’m running late but I’ve got this idea.’ She showed up with what turned out to be the hook and the back half of the chorus. So she brought that to the table and she had just met her husband about a week before, so she was in that frame of mind. We just kind of interjected our life experiences and all our relationships and wrote a song with a character that’s a lot like me, who’s a lot luckier than he deserves in a lot of different ways, including relationships.”

Luke Combs tells People magazine that he and his fiance, Nicole, are continuing to plan their wedding. “We’re actually a lot farther along than I think we both thought we would be with our schedules. I’m excited about it. I really am. I’m looking forward to that day quite a bit.”

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s 11-year-old daughter Sunday Rose wants to direct movies when she is older. Nicole tells Country Fancast that she was recently driving with her daughter when her daughter told her she wants to get into the movie industry. “I went, wow. That right there, that is progress. For that little girl to be able to say, ‘Yeah, I can be a director’ – I would never have said that. I said I could be an actress, but I never said a director.”

Blake Shelton tells Entertainment Tonight that he and Gwen Stefani are competitive when it comes to The Voice.“At the end of the day… it’s no different than if Gwen and I were playing cards. She wants to win and I want to win, and that’s what they pay us to do on this show, is to try to win. She’s not competitive. She’ll be the first to tell you. Right up until it gets competitive and then all of a sudden she [really] is.”

Chris Janson tells Digital Journal that he is a true outdoorsman. “My two favorite things to do are bow hunting for deer, as well as finding rocks and Civil War artifacts. I love being outdoors, so I feel at home in the woods.”
