Mauricio Dubón (mah-REE-see-O dew-BON) hit a two-run homer, Framber Valdez struck out 10 in six innings, and the Houston Astros came from behind to beat the Pittsburg Pirates 5-4 on Wednesday night.

COLLEGE
The Texas A&M University-Commerce football team officially began fall camp on Wednesday morning in preparation for the 2024 season. The first practice saw the Lions participate in individual drills and run a few plays in a full 11-on-11 setting as the team acclimated to the conditions. A&M-Commerce will continue fall camp with practices during the week and select weekend days over the next few weeks.

Team USA’s unrelenting depth will continue to lead to some uncomfortable moments when the coaching staff grapples with how to manage it all. It fuels the Americans as they work toward trying to take a fifth consecutive gold medal. On Wednesday, depth was again the engine in a 103-86 win against upstart South Sudan that moved Team USA to 2-0 in Olympic play and punched its ticket into next week’s quarterfinals.
Katie Ledecky proved again she’s a sure bet in swimming’s longest event. Ledecky romped to the eighth Olympic gold medal of her brilliant career and 12th overall with a runaway victory in the 1,500-meter freestyle on Wednesday at the Paris Games. She also confirmed after the race that she has no plans to retire and wants to compete in Los Angeles.
The U.S. men’s 3×3 basketball team fell to 0-2 in pool play in the Paris Olympics with a 19-17 loss to Poland on Wednesday night.
Goals from Trinity Rodman and Korbin Albert gave the U.S. women’s national team a 2-1 win over Australia on Wednesday. It secured first place in Group B at the Olympic Games and set up a quarterfinal against Japan in Paris on Saturday.
The U.S.A. has 30 medals with five gold, 13 Silver and 12 bronze.
