Titus County COVID-19

COVID Update Tue Jan 5

Per state reporting
Cumulative cases 2,153
Cumulative fatalities 45
Active cases 230

The state officially notified Titus County that due to the high percentage of COVID patients in our region’s hospitals, we have to back off to 50% occupancy in non exempted businesses. It includes retail and restaurants, and limited are elective surgeries.

TRMC reports they are at Max Capacity with 24 COVID patients. They have moved all ICU COVID patients out of traditional ICU to other ICU capable rooms. The third floor has been devoted entirely to COVID patients. The ER is holding some COVID patients to help ease the load on the floor and ICU.

Transfers to other hospitals are complicated for COVID patients, although it is somewhat easier for non-COVID patients.

Mr. Scoggin reports that COVID patients at TRMC have gotten sicker in the last two weeks. None of these stats indicate that anything has improved recently. Please take the necessary steps to protect yourself and others around you. Remember that many with COVID will assume they are not infected because their symptoms are minimal and similar to typical seasonal illnesses. Watch for fever, chills, loss of taste/smell, stomach/digestion problems, cough, headache, body aches. Free testing is available daily at 203 W. 16th with 24-48 hour results.
