Titus County Juvenile Charged With Manslaughter

Titus County Deputies arrested a 16-year-old female for Manslaughter. She allegedly shot eight-year-old Logan Blackwell December 29 at a residence on Private Road 2321 with a high-power pellet rifle. They rushed him to Titus Regional Medical Center where he later died of his injuries. The suspect’s name has not been released because of her age.

On Sunday, December 29, 2019, Titus County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators were summoned to the scene of a residence on Private Road 2321 in response to a report of a child having been shot by a pellet rifle.

Authorities found at that time, that eight-year-old Logan Blackwell had received life-threatening injuries from an air rifle. While the victim was being transported to Titus Regional Medical Center, investigators began to look into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Tragically, young Logan later died from his injuries. Authorities believe that a significantly powerful pellet rifle had been involved. The incident remained under investigation through Thursday and information learned by investigators led them to make an arrest. A 16-year-old female juvenile was arrested on Thursday, January 9, 2020, for the felony offense of Manslaughter.
