Tornado Touches Down In Southern Hopkins County

A tornado touched down near Hopkins County 2415 south of Pickton and tracked north through Pickton to Farm Road 3105. It damaged an estimated 19 structures, and they reported no injuries. The Red Cross was on the scene assisting those affected.

A tornado destroyed several houses in Pickton during Thursday afternoon’s storms. First United Methodist Church in Como also had damage. A trained spotter observed the tornado, which will be confirmed when the National Weather Service sends a team to inspect the area. Como-Pickton schools will be closed Friday because of local damage. However, extra-curricular activities are unaffected.
